I’ve previously created websites from scratch using HTML and Javascript (Chris Short Water Quality), then adding some CSS for simple animations (The World of Bobby Dazzler) and php/MySQL, first to allow online entries for a picture quiz and then for dynamic pages allowing uploading and rendering of pieces of writing (see Writing page).
Recently I updated and extended IChemE Water SIGs webpages using Sitecore, so got some idea of creating content with a CMS. When a friend asked me to create a website for him I thought that he might find it convenient to use a CMS; and WordPress was an obvious choice, especially as it’s integrated with the hosting service I use for Bobby Dazzler and the writers’ sites. So now I’m creating a new website for myself using WordPress, to get some experience of it.
